About the Economic Development Office

The Economic Development Office is directed by the Economic Development Committee (EDC), a committee of City Council. The EDC provides strategic advice to Council on local issues. The goal of the EDC is to promote and encourage industrial, commercial and residential development to increase assessment, employment, and social opportunities in the City of Orillia. Staff encourages this development by establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with local businesses and community organizations. The office provides advisory and consultative services for public and private sector partners to develop economic projects and also compiles and maintains the City of Orillia's Municipal Profile and Major Employers List.

Under the current City Council, the EDC has undergone restructuring.
