Nobody wants to hear a siren or see a fire truck heading up a neighbourhood street. But if you need the police, a fire fighter, or a paramedic, it's only a phone call away.

9-1-1 operators field calls at the Orillia Fire Department for emergency services in Orillia and surrounding townships. The City of Orillia's Fire Department has both career and volunteer fire fighters. The City's policing services are provided by an O.P.P. detachment and, thanks to a partnership with the County of Simcoe, the City is provided with full paramedic service to the community.

Emergency Services are also about prevention. Both the Orillia O.P.P. and the Orillia Fire Department provide extensive public education, awareness and prevention programs. In addition, the City has an extensive Emergency Plan and is constantly preparing to deal with a range of emergency situations.

Emergency Vehicles

Emergency vehicles are a vital tool in the protection of our City's visitors and guests, the rescue and transportation of sick or injured persons and also extremely important for transporting firefighting equipment and crews to emergency scenes. If you see or hear an emergency vehicle while you are driving, it is critical to ensure these vehicles have safe and unrestricted passage.

When approaching any emergency vehicle that is stopped with its red, or red and blue lights flashing or a tow truck with its amber lights flashing in the same direction of your travel, you are required to reduce the speed of your vehicle and proceed with caution.

Do your part by knowing what to do. Visit the Ontario Government website for all the details.
