Scout Valley Forest Management Study

The City of Orillia and Beacon Environmental held a Public Information Centre (PIC) for the Scout Valley Forest Management Study that has been ongoing since the spring of 2013. The study is being completed by Beacon Environmental on behalf of the City of Orillia.

The purpose of the PIC is to provide an update regarding the study findings to date, which will be provided through poster displays and presentation. An important component of the PIC is to provide residents with an opportunity to give input to the study and management planning, which may include background information, local knowledge, potential issues and solutions.

For those unable to attend the session, residents are encouraged to to review current study findings by viewing the Scout Valley Management Plan presentation.

Scout Valley

A 230-acre City-owned oasis, Scout Valley is located at the south-west edge of Orillia, bounded by Highway 11 and Old Barrie Road. There are three loop trails at Scout Valley, which is dominated by mature deciduous forest. There is also a refreshing spring of water and a small stream. At the top of the hill is a lookout with fine views across Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching.
