Get Up, go out and be Winter Active!

WinterActive is designed to help Orillians improve their health while having fun enjoying the best of Canada's winter. Plan to gather your family members and participate in as many activities as you can in February 2016. All events are free with the exception of Cabin Fever Fridays at the Leacock Cafe.

Snowy-Blowy Outdoor Story time with OPL @ Victoria Park 10:30am12:00pm Join the Orillia Public Library for a Snowy-Blowy outdoor story time! We will read stories, sing songs and play in the snow. Wear your snow pants!

Free Snowshoeing with Kids for Turtles and Bob Bowles at Scout Valley from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. They will supply the snow shoes.

February 21, 2017

UPDATE: $10.00 Cross Country trail pass for Hardwood Ski and Bike. Call ahead to book a spot for the introductory lesson at 12:00pm or 5:00pm for an additional $5.00.

Cabin Fever Friday - Leacock Cafe (Leacock Museum) Purchase tapas and cocktails while enjoying free local live music and a roaring fire at the Leacock Cafe from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Bring snowshoes and cross country skiis to explore the wintery grounds.

February 25, 2017

Cardboard Toboggan Race Couching Golf Club Hill 10:00am-12:00pm (registration at 9:30am)

All toboggans must be primarily made of cardboard. You can use duct tape, tin foil, shower curtains, garbage bags and similar things, but no wood, steel, fibreglass, aluminum or plastic. You cannot mount your box on a real sled or crazy carpet. 

Everyone riding must wear a helmet and if you are going to win a prize, you have to stay on your toboggan to the end -- except, of course, for the wipeout prize.


EVERY FRIDAY in February

Cabin Fever Fridays @ Leacock 5-10pm- Bring your snowshoes and cross country skis.  Enjoy great food with great friends by a roaring fire while listening to the best of local live music. (Fees associated, visit leacock website for details) 


All of these events are free with the exception of Cabin Fever Fridays and the Trail Pass which have some costs associated.
