The Environment and Infrastructure Services Department has prepared an Environmental Emergency (E2) Plan per the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Canada requirement to ensure safety measures for the storage of Liquefied Chlorine Gas at the Water Filtration Plant.  Liquefied Chlorine Gas is used for the treatment of drinking water to kill disease-causing pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoans.

Beach Posting Lifted PostThe City of Orillia has received notice from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that the swimming advisory at Moose Beach, located at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, has been lifted.
A swimming advisory was issued by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on Aug. 5, 2020, due to higher than normal bacteria count.
All three swimming areas in Orillia are now open for swimming. This includes Couchiching Beach, Moose Beach and Portage Bay.
