New Orillia Transit fares begin in January 2023

For immediate release (Dec. 13, 2022) – As the City continues to improve Orillia’s transit system, riders will see a slight fare increase in 2023.
Effective Jan. 1, 2023, a cash fare to ride the bus in Orillia will increase by $0.10 from $2.80 to $2.90. There will also be price changes to monthly passes and bulk ride fees (see attached Orillia cOnnect Pass Poster).

For immediate release (Dec. 12, 2022) – Parking tickets were turned into holiday cheer this morning as Mayor Don McIsaac presented over $2,600 in children’s toys and toy store gift certificates from the 2022 Toys for Tickets campaign to the local chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and District, the Couchiching Jubilee House and the Salvation Army.

Replacement system eliminates possibility of Legionella bacteria through dry, air-cooling
For immediate release (Dec. 7, 2022) – Orillia Council has approved a long-term plan for the refrigeration system at Rotary Place.
At its meeting on Dec. 7, 2022, Council authorized staff to execute an agreement for the design and contract administration for a new, indoor, self-contained compressor system and outdoor dry condenser (dry chiller) to replace the current Rotary Place refrigeration system....

Council greenlights temporary measures to put ice back in at Rotary Place

For immediate release (Dec. 1, 2022) – Orillia Council has approved temporary measures to get user groups back on the ice at Rotary Place as soon as possible.
At a special meeting on Dec. 1, 2022, Council authorized staff to execute an agreement for the rental, installation and other potential costs associated with installing a temporary refrigeration system at Rotary Place for up to 18 months with a total cost limit of $425,000. The funding was allocated from the Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve.
