For immediate release (Aug. 27, 2024) – The City of Orillia is reminding residents to play it safe when school resumes on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024.
“With back to school, more people will be on our streets walking, cycling or driving to school,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “I urge everyone to obey pedestrian signals and crossing guards, to reduce speeds in school zones, and to stay alert. Let's work together to ensure that this school year starts off safely for everyone in our community.”

Couchiching Beach and Moose Beach swimming advisories lifted Aug. 21

For immediate release (Aug. 21, 2024) – The City of Orillia has received notice from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that the swimming advisories at Couchiching Beach, located at Couchiching Beach Park, and Moose Beach, located at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, have been lifted.
Swimming advisories were issued by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on Aug. 20, 2024, for Moose Beach and on Aug. 14, 2024, for Couchiching Beach due to a higher-than-normal bacteria count.
