For immediate release (July 26, 2016) – The Orillia Fire Department, along with its emergency services partners, are pleased to announce that Text with 9-1-1 Service (T9-1-1) for the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and speech impaired (DHHSI) community will be available starting Aug. 1, 2016, in the City of Orillia, the Townships of Severn, Ramara and Oro-Medonte, and the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.

For immediate release (July 21, 2016) – The owner of 103 Matchedash St. N. in Orillia is facing smoke alarm related charges under the Ontario Fire Code after failing to maintain smoke alarms in operating condition and failing to replace smoke alarms within the time frame specified in the manufacturer’s instructions.

All Orillia residents are invited to complete the survey whether you take Orillia Transit or not. City prepares for heat wave by opening cooling centres

For immediate release (July 21, 2016) – Due to the extreme temperatures, the City is opening three air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use as of noon on Thursday, July 21, 2016. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat wave breaks.

Traffic signals being installed at Bass Lake Sideroad and West Ridge Boulevard

Work has started on the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection of Bass Lake Sideroad and West Ridge Boulevard.
The new signals are required in conjunction with roadway improvements along Highway 12 identified by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to accommodate existing conditions and future growth in the West Orillia area.
