Cyclists and pedestrians looking to cross Highway 11 from Old Barrie Road or Highway 12 can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a new connecting trail is coming.

City receives $2 million from province for West Orillia roadway improvements

The City’s roadway improvements in West Orillia received a $2-million boost from the Province of Ontario.
The provincial funding from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) will help cover the $3,818,455 cost of roadway improvements required by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to accommodate existing conditions and future growth in the area, such as the Orillia Costco on University Avenue, the City’s Horne Business Park, and ongoing residential development.

City of Orillia Public Works staff continue to clear and sand Orillia roads and sidewalks following last night’s significant snow fall.

Mayor Clarke presents first round of 2016 grants

Mayor Steve Clarke presented the Orillia Winter Carnival and Orillia Jazz Festival with grants as part of the first installment of the 2016 City of Orillia grants program on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016.
The total City of Orillia grants budget for 2016 is $62,000.
Grant recipients through the 2016 Partnership Programming for Cultural Festivals and Events include:
- Orillia Winter Carnival - $3,000 (in addition to $1,000 presented in December 2015)
- Orillia Jazz Festival - $1,000
