Overnight Parking - Seasonal Restrictions

The City of Orillia would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents that as of November 15th, 2012 through April 15th, 2013, no person shall park a vehicle on any municipal street or any municipal parking lot between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. This prohibition is in effect whether it is snowing or not. There is zero tolerance, all vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed.

Orillia scores high in national small business survey
ORILLIA - The City of Orillia is among the top entrepreneurial communities in the country according to an annual survey conducted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB).
Orillia ranked 34th in the CFIB’s fifth annual ‘Communities in Boom’ study, which compared more than 100 Canadian cities with a population of more than 25,000 for positive factors related to fostering the development of small business.

City wins highest municipal honour for its waste diversion efforts

For immediate release (October 19, 2012) – The Recycling Council of Ontario honoured the City of Orillia and its residents last night with the highest award possible given to a municipality for waste diversion.
The City of Orillia won the Platinum Municipal Diversion Award at the RCO’s Waste Minimization Awards. This is the first time the City has won the highest honour.

Residents are invited to go online or visit a public open house next week to examine details and provide feedback about the three shortlisted sites for the proposed aquatic centre and double gymnasium in Orillia.
The open house date has been set for Wednesday, Oct. 24th from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S.

After extensive debate, the City’s Recreation Facilities Committee (RFC) has taken a major step toward delivering an aquatic centre and double gymnasium for the people of Orillia.
Last night, the Committee shortlisted three potential sites for a new facility. They are:
- David H. Church School, 230 James St. E.
- McKinnell Square Park, 135 Dunedin St.
- A portion of the FLSmidth lands, 174 West St. S.
