Orillia opens cooling centres July 4 due to heat warning

For immediate release (July 4, 2023) – Due to the heat warning in place, the City of Orillia is opening air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted.

Moose Beach and Portage Bay swimming advisories lifted June 30

For immediate release (June 30, 2023) – The City of Orillia has received notice from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that the swimming advisories at Moose Beach and Portage Bay, both located at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, have been lifted.
A swimming advisory was issued by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on June 28, 2023 for Moose Beach and on June 29, 2023 for Portage Bay due to a higher-than-normal bacteria count.
All three swimming areas in Orillia are now open for swimming....
