Orillia opens cooling centres June 17 due to heat warning

For immediate release (June 17, 2024) – Due to the heat warning in place, the City of Orillia has opened air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted.

For immediate release (June 14, 2024) – The City of Orillia in partnership with the Orillia Museum of Art & History invites members of the public to a gathering on June 24, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Orillia Recreation Centre (255 West St. S.) for a special reception to celebrate the new Indigenous art exhibit titled “Roots & Resilience: Expressions of Identity and Culture.”
The exhibit showcases six works of art from four Indigenous artists from Orillia and surrounding areas.

Please note that as part of the reconstruction of the Centennial Park Boat Launch Parking lot, work is taking place that will impact the boardwalk and waterfront trail from Saturday, June 15 to Thursday, June 20, 2024. The boardwalk and waterfront trail will be closed from the boat launch south to the edge of the boat launch parking lot.
