For immediate release (Feb. 7, 2025) – The City of Orillia is declaring a Significant Weather Event to alert the community that the current extreme weather conditions could pose a danger to users of City roads, sidewalks and bike lanes.
Environment Canada issued a snow squall warning at 10:11 a.m. for the Orillia area. Between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. more than 40 cm of snow has fallen in Orillia with another 20 cm of snow expected this afternoon.

City of Orillia closing City Centre and other City facilities due to conditions

For immediate release (Feb. 7, 2025) – Due to the deteriorating weather and road conditions today (Feb. 7, 2025), the City of Orillia is closing all public facilities effective at 2 p.m. for the safety of staff and patrons.
Affected facilities include:
- Orillia City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.)
- Municipal Operations Centre (20 James St. W.)
- Wastewater Treatment Centre (40 Kitchener St.)
- Water Filtration Plant (200 Bay St.)
- Waste Diversion Site (100 Kitchener St.)
- Orillia Opera House (20 Mississaga St. W.)

A Special Council Meeting regarding Tax Appeals has been scheduled on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Orillia City Centre Council Chamber. A portion of this meeting may be held in closed session.
