Orillia Recreation Centre designated as emergency evacuation site for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in new agreement with City of Orillia
(November 19, 2025 - Orillia, ON) – The City of Orillia and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) announced today they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that designates the Orillia Recreation Centre (ORC) as the location where patients and staff would be transferred in the event of a partial or full evacuation of the hospital.

Please note that the road will be temporarily closed at 67 Victoria Street on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 8:00am to 8:00pm to allow crews to install a new water line service.
- Detour is in place: Albert Street to Colborne Street to Wyandotte Street

Transit Fares Drop Effective Jan 1, 2026

Starting Jan. 1, 2026, Orillia Transit fares are lower than ever.
- $2 single ride (cash or cOnnect Pass)
- $10 unlimited 7-day pass (cOnnect Pass only)
- $30 unlimited 30-day pass (cOnnect Pass only)
- Free rides for teens (with a cOnnect Pass)
These new low rates (with the exception of the permanent free rides for teens) are part of a 15-month pilot program from Jan. 1, 2026 - Mar 31. 2027. These rates apply to adults and seniors (no additional senior discount).

Citywide Exterior LED Light Fixture Replacement Underway

The City of Orillia will begin replacing exterior light fixtures across the city in the coming weeks as part of a citywide LED retrofit project. The project includes upgrades to lighting in parking lots, alleyways, athletic fields, and parks, with completion expected by March 2026.
Residents may notice temporary closures of certain parking areas or sections of athletic fields and parks during the installation period. User groups will be notified directly in advance of any field closures.
