SIMCOE COUNTY - Newcomers and potential newcomers will soon have a new online vehicle to learn about Simcoe County, its amenities, services and communities.
With funding from the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, the County of Simcoe is creating a new website designed to answer questions and highlight community information.

ORILLIA - City politicians are putting their weight behind a rooftop solar project proposed for Atherley Road.
Earlier this week, council moved to formally support Icarus Power Generation — a Concord-based clean energy provider — in the construction and operation of a solar project on the roof of the Giant Tiger/Dollar Tree building at Atherley Road and Gill Street under the province’s Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) program, which subsidizes green energy projects.

County Working On Affordable Housing Strategy

SIMCOE COUNTY - A new 10-year affordable housing and homelessness strategy is in the works, members of the human services committee say.
Barrie mayor Jeff Lehman and Orillia mayor Angelo Orsi supported the plan, but would like to see strategies developed to meet the identified demand for housing across the region.

The County of Simcoe is taking the pulse of local communities this fall, hoping to breathe life into the region’s labour market for the future.
