Provide input on Port of Orillia design concepts

Members of the public are invited to review and provide comments on proposed design concepts for a new Port of Orillia building and the future development of public space in the area of Orillia’s waterfront at an open house on Thursday, June 25.
The open house is being held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Orillia Public Library in Program Rooms 1 and 2. Consultants working with the City’s Port of Orillia Public Realm Project Team will be available to present and discuss the proposed design concepts.

Midhurst/June 16, 2015 – The County of Simcoe, City of Barrie and City of Orillia are partnering to jointly promote regional business opportunities at the upcoming Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS). The municipal partners have secured 1,000 sq. ft. of display space and are currently recruiting eight to 10 local businesses to participate in a regional booth. The Commemorative Awards Committee is encouraging local artists to showcase their talent by submitting artwork and photos for the cover of the City of Orillia Hall of Fame booklet.
Established in 1964, the Orillia Hall of Fame Award is presented to individuals who have received national or international recognition in their field of excellence. Past Hall of Fame inductees include Don Tapscott, J.A. “Pete” McGarvey, Walter Henry and Mamie Shrum Faris.

The Manager of Economic Development for the City of Orillia is pleased with the results in the latest Moneysense poll.
The magazine's annual Best Places to Live in Canada puts Orillia at 108 -- up from 149 in last year's poll.Dan Landry says some of the findings include a 30 percent reduction in crime, the number of doctors in the community, and above-average home ownership rate.He says it speaks for the safety of the community and a place where people like to work and live...
City of Orillia water system testing taking place this week

For immediate release (June 8, 2015) – The City of Orillia Environmental Services Department will be conducting tests to the water distribution system this week in order to identify pressure and flow demands on the system.
Work is scheduled to be completed during the week of June 8 to 12 and will take approximately two full days to complete. This will involve locating and operating watermain valves and flushing of municipally owned hydrants.
