Finding efficiencies throughout Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is paying off.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has ranked Orillia’s emergency department fourth best out of 74 Ontario hospitals.

Inaugural special battery collection a success

During a one-week special battery collection from March 10 to 14, 2014, the City of Orillia recycled more than 675 kg of used household batteries. This represents more than 50 per cent of all the spent batteries collected at the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot in 2013 (by volume).

Orillia could be even busier this summer after the area was showcased to thousands of athletes and visitors during the Ontario Winter Games.
Mikaela Cheslock, a member of the gold-medal winning girls’ curling team from Sudbury, enjoyed her experience staying at YMCA Geneva Park and competing at the Orillia Curling Club.
