Owner charged: failing to provide a smoke alarm

The owner of the property at 24 Free Dr., Orillia, has been charged under the Provincial Offences Act for failing to provide a smoke alarm contravening the Ontario Fire Code. The charge comes as a result of an investigation into a fire by the Orillia Fire Department.

Orillia area shoppers could win a $500 downtown shopping spree simply by completing an online survey about shopping locally.
The Orillia Economic Development Office has joined forces with the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Orillia Management Board to learn more about the shopping patterns of local residents and visitors.

A Special Meeting of Council regarding 174 West St. S. will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Tudhope-McIntrye Boardroom of the Orillia City Centre. A portion of this meeting will be held in Closed Session to deal with Legal and Land issues.

The City of Orillia Election Team is hosting a Candidate Information Session on Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Orillia City Centre.
The information session is open to all members of the public wanting to learn more about running for City of Orillia Council for the 2014–2018 term, including those who have already filed their nomination papers.
