New ownership gives new life to downtown printing company

When an exterior wall of an unused portion of Askett Printing Services collapsed in 2012, it looked as if the writing was on the wall for the long-time downtown print shop that was already up for sale.

County commitment recognized by Lakehead University

More than 50 years after the County of Simcoe envisioned a university within its borders, Lakehead University has named its academic building Simcoe Hall.
A ceremony and unveiling of the building’s new sign was held Thursday at the Orillia campus.
The county has contributed about $3.5 million to Lakehead’s Orillia campus since 2009.
The county’s contribution is highly unusual across the province, said Kim Fedderson, Orillia campus dean and vice-provost.
