Art Contest may help define Orillia

For immediate release (November 18, 2014) – The City of Orillia is calling on local students with creative flair to help gather feedback on the future identity of Orillia.
The Imagine Orillia! Youth Art Contest is open to all elementary and secondary students in the Orillia area, and one local artist will win $50. The contest is part of the City’s Branding and Wayfinding project.

Solar Project Leads to Bright Future for Orillia Power

The Sunshine City is starting to live up to its moniker.
Orillia Power Generation Corp. announced the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre as the first of four rooftop solar installations planned for local buildings over the next few months.

Orillia getting $473K in funds for infrastructure upgrades

The province announced infrastructure funding to 426 municipalities Friday, including Orillia and three neighbouring townships.
The city will get $473,100 under the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund while Oro-Medonte will receive $58,300, Ramara will get $54,500 and Severn will have $68,100.
“We were aware of the grant when the fund was developed, but it’s always good news to get information with regards to the amount,” said Orillia’s treasurer, Jim Lang.
