Bicycle rally showcases local trails

For immediate release (September 12, 2014) – Join the Active Transportation and Trails Advisory Committee at the seventh annual Orillia Bicycle Rally, taking place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17 at the Orillia City Centre.

Yoga in the Park cancelled this evening

For immediate release (September 11, 2014) – Yoga in the Park has been canceled tonight due to the inclement weather. This would have been the last class. There will be no make-up classes as this was a free program.

Costco development continues to move forward in Orillia

City council has paved the way for a developer to bring Costco to Orillia. Charter Construction and Mark Rich Homes received rezoning approval for a portion of the property at 600 Harvie Settlement Road.
The proposal is subject to a holding condition, meaning the developer must satisfy a range of conditions before garnering final approval, according to planning director Ian Sugden.

City finds a buyer for lot in Drinkwater Park

A city-owned plot of land in the Drinkwater Industrial Park could soon be sold.
The city has received an offer of purchase.
“It’s a small industrial park developed in the ’70s,” said Ian Sugden, the city’s director of planning and development. “There’s a few remaining parcels up there that have never been sold.”
The industrial park is located on Brammer Drive.
