Downtown Tomorrow Plan wins national award

The City of Orillia’s Downtown Tomorrow Plan has won an Award of Merit for Planning Excellence from the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).
The City, together with its consultant team led by Urban Strategies Inc., was recognized in the category of Rural/Small Town Planning at the CIP Conference in Vancouver in July 2013.

Solar-project training lands jobs; second session added

More than half of the 35 individuals who attended last week’s free training session at the Orillia City Centre were employed in the solar industry within a few days.

Throughout the summer months particularly around special events like Labour Day, many families like to enjoy firework displays. However, family fireworks in the City of Orillia are regulated by Chapter 938 of the City of Orillia's Municipal Code. That means it is illegal to use consumer or family-friendly fireworks such as:
- Showers
- Fountains
- Golden Rain
- Roman Candles

City’s Official Plan approved by OMB

The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) recently approved the City of Orillia’s Official Plan.
“The City’s new Official Plan is a forward-looking, progressive policy document that will serve as a blueprint for development in Orillia for years to come,” said Ian Sugden, Director of Development Services for the City of Orillia.
