Public input sought for Scout Valley Forest Management Plan

The City invites residents to provide input on its Scout Valley Forest Management Plan at a Public Information Centre (PIC) being held Nov. 28, 2013.
“The Scout Valley Forest Management Plan will provide the City with a strategy to maintain, enhance and protect this important environmental park,” said Mayor Angelo Orsi. “Scout Valley users know the park better than anyone else and we want to hear from you how best to manage it now and into the future.”

Crunch time for City of Orillia 2014 Budget

Orillia Council had its first look at the City’s 2014 Budget Wednesday night.
The staff recommended tax increase for 2014 currently sits at 2.8 per cent; a reduction from the July estimate of 4.1 per cent. Aggressive targets met by City departments resulted in the substantial savings.

One-hundred solar construction jobs spark additional training

Another local solar construction related training session will take place Nov. 28, 2013, following the success of two previous training events that led to more than 100 jobs. The training session is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Council Chamber at the Orillia City Centre.
