Abandoned building to be demolished for public safety

The City of Orillia’s Abandoned Properties Project Team has identified 116 Colborne St. E. for demolition Monday Oct. 7, 2013.
The house at 116 Colborne St. E. has been vacant since 2001 and the building has deteriorated significantly. During this time, City staff have boarded up windows and entrances in attempts to make the house secure.

Nordia Inc., one of the largest bilingual call centre operators in North America, has acquired the assets and lease of a call centre in Orillia, Ontario, formerly operated by TeleTech. Under the agreement, TeleTech will continue to use a portion of the facility to provide services to existing customers, while Nordia will take over management of the centre. The City of Orillia, Water and Sewer Division will be conducting their annual fire hydrant inspection program. This involves the flushing, draining and testing of all municipally owned hydrants in the City. This preventive maintenance measure is necessary to ensure that the hydrants are functional if needed by the Fire Department during the winter months.
