Owner and tenant face carbon monoxide related charges

The owner of the property at 160 West St. N., Orillia has been charged with two counts for failing to install a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm adjacent to a sleeping area. A tenant of the same apartment building has also been charged for disabling a CO alarm. The charges come as a result of the investigation into an incident by the Orillia Fire Department.

Finding efficiencies throughout Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is paying off.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has ranked Orillia’s emergency department fourth best out of 74 Ontario hospitals.

During a one-week special battery collection from March 10 to 14, 2014, the City of Orillia recycled more than 675 kg of used household batteries. This represents more than 50 per cent of all the spent batteries collected at the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot in 2013 (by volume).
