While growing up in Moosonee, Rachael Sheppard learned to love the remote northern community that helped to define her.

Georgian and Lakehead create diploma-degree option

Georgian College and Lakehead University are creating new ways for students to earn both a college diploma and a university degree in less time.
This latest development in the ongoing Lakehead and Georgian partnership comes as student groups call on postsecondary institutions across Ontario to improve the transferability of college and university credits.
Three newly signed articulation agreements will allow qualified Georgian graduates to gain advanced standing in selected programs at Lakehead.

Orillia businesses can now apply for provincial economic development grants that will help businesses grow and create jobs, says Mayor Angelo Orsi.

For immediate release (August 16, 2013) – As per the direction of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, the posting of Moose Beach, located at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, has been lifted.
Moose Beach was posted on Aug. 13, 2013, due to higher than normal bacteria count.
All three swimming areas in Orillia are now open for swimming. This includes Moose Beach and Portage Bay, located at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, and Couchiching Beach, located at Couchiching Beach Park.
