County Working On Affordable Housing Strategy

SIMCOE COUNTY - A new 10-year affordable housing and homelessness strategy is in the works, members of the human services committee say.
Barrie mayor Jeff Lehman and Orillia mayor Angelo Orsi supported the plan, but would like to see strategies developed to meet the identified demand for housing across the region.

The County of Simcoe is taking the pulse of local communities this fall, hoping to breathe life into the region’s labour market for the future.

The Packet and Times - Orillia's open house to gather information for the downtown/waterfront plan has been a success, says Ian Sugden, the city's director of planning and development.
"It's generating the type of response we were hoping to get," Sugden said Thursday. "There's a steady flow of people anytime I've been there."
