Orillia Heading in the Right Direction

In this year’s Progress 2013 publication, the Orillia Packet and Times highlights some of the progress being made on various fronts in and around Orillia.
The City has already had success with its moratorium on industrial development charges and this year will start marketing its fully-serviced employment lands in west Orillia.
It will also be a year of renewal for the City’s three key cultural assets: the Leacock Museum, the Orillia Opera House and the Orillia Museum of Art and History.

Last week was a good one for business in Orillia. Two events in particular generated significant economic spinoff in the city.
Let’s start with the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) girls’ high-school hockey tournament held Monday to Thursday at Rotary Place, Brian Orser Arena, the Coldwater Community Centre and the Rama MASK.

A local father-son venture has grown into one of the biggest stucco and stone companies in the province.
System 6 Stucco, founded by Gord and Chad Cooke nearly a decade ago, has become so large it has had to move out of its Hughes Road headquarters and into a much larger facility in Severn Township.
“Our business is growing so fast we needed more space to manufacture,” Gord said. “We needed more office space.”

The City of Orillia is requesting your assistance in selecting the best locations for upcoming Audible Pedestrian Signals.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the City's Public Works Department, is reviewing the Audible Pedestrian Signal locations within the City of Orillia. Please complete a survey to help prioritize the locations where the signals should be installed.
