A public meeting about a proposed Building Permit fee increase in Orillia takes place on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 6:15 p.m. in Council Chamber, 50 Andrew St. S.
At the meeting, staff will present to Council the following:
- Building Permit fees in Orillia are below the average charged by similar-sized Ontario communities and other municipalities in Simcoe County.

The Orillia campus of Georgian College officially unveiled its new Community Education Partnership Centre before a gathering of faculty, students and interested community leaders Tuesday.
The dedicated facility within the campus will provide students in the Community Projects Initiative (CPI) an area to develop projects in conjunction with community agencies and non-profit groups throughout Simcoe County.

Atlas Block’s industrial property is moving closer to becoming a residential neighbourhood.
“We currently have a site plan approval application before us for the first 55 townhouses,” Orillia’s senior planner, Andrea Woodrow, said recently.

Over the past five years, thanks to funding from the Ministry of Education, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has pumped almost $45-million into the local economy as it aggressively updated and upgraded its presence in Orillia.
