Over 45 local business leaders and Dignitaries attended the annual Orillia Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) dinner meeting held Thursday November 15th, which featured inspiring presentations from each end of the manufacturing sector.

ORILLIA - Orillia’s third major solar rooftop project is up and running.
For the past two years, the Toronto-based Bright Power Group has been working under the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) on a 75-kilowatt installation atop the Couchiching Family Health Team building at 119 Memorial Ave.

High Marks for Lakehead University

ORILLIA - Lakehead University has ranked high - among five Ontario undergraduate universities in its category - in Maclean's magazine's university rankings.
"For us, that tells us we're actually doing quite well within the province," Rod Hanley, Lakehead provost and vice-president academic, said Tuesday. "It's something we're quite proud of."
The rankings aren't separated between the Orillia and Thunder Bay campuses.

County of Simcoe Looking for Public Input on Affordable Housing Strategy

The County of Simcoe is working with consultants to develop their Long Term Affordable Housing Strategy and is asking for more public input.
You can take the online survey or attend one of the open houses to hear and/or give your opinion, one of which will be held in Orillia.

County Website Hopes to Attract Immigration to Local Communities

Simcoe County is working on a website for newcomers.
The Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is working on an Internet portal intended to attract, integrate and recruit immigrants to the county’s municipalities.
The website will launch in March.
Irena Pozgaj, research analyst for Simcoe County, said the area is often more of a secondary location than an immigrant’s landing area.
