Temporary neighbourhood traffic circle installation will take place Aug. 22, 2024

The installation of a temporary neighbourhood traffic circle at the intersection of Forest Avenue South and James Street East will take place on Aug. 22, 2024, with a rain date of Aug. 23, 2024.
In order to facilitate the installation, the intersection will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A detour will be in place. Please see the road closure detour map.

Notice of Downtown BIA Sidewalk Repairs and Tree Removal Mobilization

As a follow up to the public notice issued on June 17, 2024 regarding Downtown BIA sidewalk repairs and tree removal, the City of Orillia’s contractors will begin mobilizing on August 19, 2024.
The work includes tree removal, followed by paver repairs, and is anticipated to take approximately six weeks. The work will take place in phases starting with tree removal, followed by stumping and grading, with the final stage being paver repair.

For immediate release (Aug. 14, 2024) - The City of Orillia has received notice from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that a swimming advisory has been issued for Couchiching Beach, located at Couchiching Beach Park, due to a higher-than-normal bacteria count.
