Shape and inspire Orillia’s strategic vision

Posted on Wednesday September 25, 2019

Public input opportunities available now

For immediate release (Sept. 25, 2019) – Help shape City of Orillia priorities and services by providing your input into the strategic plan and core service and organizational review currently underway.

The City, along with MNP LLP consultants, is soliciting input from residents and local businesses to gain an understanding of what matters most to you and where you want to see the City of Orillia today and into the future.

“It is Council’s objective to develop a strategic plan that captures Orillia’s current and future priorities and to ensure we are providing the services that matter most to our residents. The City of Orillia strategic plan is only as good as the input we receive. Like you, I and members of Council want to be very proud of the Sunshine City now, in five years, 10 years, 20 years and well beyond. Please get involved and take this opportunity to help us shape a long-term vision for Orillia,” said Mayor Steve Clarke.

An online survey was launched today and will be available until Oct.11 at (hard copies are also available at the Orillia City Centre and the Orillia Public Library). Also, be sure to visit the Orillia City Centre and the Orillia Public Library to pin your input onto the “Your Orillia” vision board starting on Friday, Sept. 27.

The City will also host a public open house on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in Council Chamber to gather additional feedback in person. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by questions and answers.

The strategic plan will assist Council with clearly defining its goals and objectives, while providing a clear direction to City staff for the remainder of this term of Council and beyond. The core service and organizational review will assess the City’s current services and service delivery models to evaluate opportunities for streamlining operations and enhancing citizen experiences.

All public input will be reviewed and analyzed in conjunction with feedback received through small focus groups held with City staff and community stakeholder focus groups and the two-day workshop with Council and the City’s senior management team.  It is anticipated the final strategic plan will be presented to Orillia Council for approval in December 2019.
