Phase 2 of the Front Street Reconstruction project will be commencing in the spring of 2020.  The second phase includes reconstruction of the Front Street/Neywash Street corridor from Colborne Street East to Laclie Street.
In order to prepare for the project, some pre-construction works, which include some lane closures, will be commencing March 9, 2020.

This vacant piece of land on Fittons Road East, formerly the site of a Bell Canada maintenance building, could soon be home to a 43-townhouse development.Orillia Matters
Rockcap Holdings has filed plans to build 43, 3-storey condo townhouses beside Monsignor Lee School
The city has received an application from Rockcap Holdings for a proposed draft plan of subdivision and draft plan of common elements condominium for 12 Fittons Rd. E.
This property was formerly home to a Bell Canada equipment and maintenance building. That building was demolished a few years ago.

Toronto-based architect, and Orillia native, Chris Montgomery says Orillia's downtown is appealing to investors due to its relatively affordable real estate and charming setting. Montgomery is renovating a Mississaga Street West building to house a restaurant and apartments.To quote a classic bit of 1960s folk rock, something’s happening here.
Investment in Orillia’s historic core is occurring with new-found intensity as developers, lured by the downtown’s historic charm and relative affordability, set the stage for the future.
According to Lisa Thomson-Roop, of the Downtown Orillia Management Board, the degree of development underway surpasses “anything in the last decade.”

The province said it is cutting red tape to help pave the way for a proposed automotive innovation, testing and research facility in Oro-Medonte.
Once complete, the Automotive Innovation Park could house a motor sport track for private and commercial use, as well as for training and research.
