From left – Marc Miller, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Ann Hoggarth, MPP for Barrie, join City of Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke for a $2.2 million funding announcement for the City of Orillia through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund.  The funding will go towards Orillia’s $14.5 million wastewater tertiary treatment project.Orillia is set to receive funding to assist with the costs of significant upgrades to its Wastewater Treatment Centre (WWTC) currently underway.

The City of Orillia was successful in its grant application to the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund through the Ministry of Infrastructure and will receive just over $2.2 million from the Federal and Provincial governments to help fund its $14.5 million wastewater tertiary treatment project.

Waste Water Treatment CentreMandatory upgrades to Orillia’s Wastewater Treatment Centre (WWTC) will start this year following the construction contract being awarded to ASCO Construction Ltd. by City Council at its meeting on Oct. 24.
An overall budget of $14.5 million has been established for the project, which is $1 million less than the initial project cost estimates of $15.5 million.

Waste Water Treatment CentreFor immediate release (June 8, 2016) – The City of Orillia will be completing significant upgrades to its Wastewater Treatment Centre (WWTC) over the next year-and-a-half in order to reduce the amount of phosphorus entering into Lake Simcoe.
