Role of Board Members
Members of the City of Orillia Police Services Board must always act in the best interest of the public they represent. Members focus on the police services' influence on and involvement in the community. However, operational matters remain the responsibility of the police. The Board members ensure the O.P.P. are providing adequate and effective policing services to the City of Orillia.
The City of Orillia Police Services Board consists of five members:
- The Head of the Municipal Council (Mayor Don McIsaac).
- One member of the Council appointed by resolution of the Council (Councillor Ralph Cipolla).
- One person appointed by resolution of the Council who is neither a member of the Council nor an employee of the municipality (Margaret Speranza).
- Two persons appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (Darylene Forrest and Vacant).

Role of the Detachment Commander
Inspector Coyer Yateman is the Detachment Commander for the Orillia O.P.P. Detachment located at 1 University Avenue, Orillia, Ontario. The Detachment Commander is responsible for putting the Board's policing plan into action and manages the day-to-day policing services. Inspector Yateman is responsible for the delivery of adequate and effective police services within the detachment's boundaries. Serving as the local police chief, the Detachment Commander takes direction from the Board as per Section 10 of the Police Services Act, which states that the goals and priorities for the delivery of police services are determined by the Board after discussions with the Detachment Commander. Inspector Yateman is responsible for meeting his goals and priorities through the local detachment's programs and operations. Also, the Detachment Commander is the key contact between the O.P.P., the Board, and the City of Orillia. Lastly, the Detachment Commander is responsible for providing information to the Board in order for the Board to carry out its duties.

Board Members' Code of Conduct
Members of the City of Orillia Police Services Board must comply with Ontario Regulation 421/97 - Members of Police Services Boards - Code of Conduct. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to guide and encourage appropriate behaviour on the part of the Board members.
A member of the City of Orillia Police Services Board shall:

Attend and actively participate in meetings.
- Not interfere with day-to-day operations.
- Undergo training provided or required.
- Keep information confidential.
- Only speak on behalf of the Board, if authorized.
- Avoid discreditable conduct.
