The Bayview Pumping Station is part of the sewage collection system for the City of Orillia. The Bayview Pumping Station is critical, as it services a large area of the City and is one of the few sewage pumping stations equipped with dedicated standby power. The station has a number of deficiencies, including old electrical and SCADA systems that require replacement, an undersized wet well that has its capacity exceeded during storm events, and limited redundancy for pumping. The City is requesting identification and evaluation of alternative solutions to address the deficiencies, improve the operations, and improve redundancy and sustainability of this sewage pumping station.
The City of Orillia has retained the services of Tatham Engineering Ltd. to undertake a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) for proposed upgrades, to improve the capacity and operation of the Bayview pumping station, and to bring the pumping station into compliance with present day codes and guidelines.
The main objectives of the project are to:
- Complete a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
- Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to address the shortcomings of the Bayview Pumping Station.
- Using the above objectives, determining the most cost-effective and efficient long-term solution to achieve the City’s targets by improving or replacing the Bayview Pumping Station.
