Public Appointments
Council appoints citizens and local agency representatives to its boards, committees and working groups. Share your expertise, creative ideas, or interest in serving your community by becoming a member. The scope of knowledge and volunteerism provided through local public engagement benefits the whole community.

New Members are currently needed for:
- Affordable Housing Working Group - 1 eligible elector or local area representative with knowledge or expertise in affordable housing.
- Commemorative Awards Selection Panel - 1 eligible elector or local area representative with an interest in recognizing and celebrating those who have made significant contributions to the community, either through local volunteerism (Order of Orillia) or excellence and outstanding achievement in their field of endeavour (Orillia Hall of Fame).
- Orillia Food Access and Sustainability Working Group - 1 local area resident who may identify as:
- a youth aged 16-25 who identifies as a local student, or
- Indigenous, or
- Senior, or
- a person with lived experience of food insecurity or a background in sustainable and equitable food system.
- Waste Management Advisory Committee - 2 eligible electors with an interest in waste management and diversion.

Applicants may be interviewed. You are encouraged to include a recent resume or curriculum vitae. |
| Qualifications |
| Most often members are required to be an eligible elector of the City of Orillia, but there are exceptions when a non-resident from the local area may also be appointed. |
| Term |
| Appointments are aligned with the four-year term of Council. Appointees may serve for two consecutive terms which may also be extended while a new Council undertakes a review at the beginning of the term. Members may also be appointed to fill a vacancy mid-term. |
| Remuneration |
| Citizens who volunteer to serve on City boards and committees are paid an annual stipend as outlined in City of Orillia Remuneration By-law See the current version: Chapter 493 of the City of Orillia Municipal Code. |
