City Council appoints approximately 100 citizens to its many boards and committees. Share your expertise, creative ideas, or interest in serving your community by becoming a member. The scope of knowledge and volunteerism provided through local participation and engagement is of great benefit to the community. Many meet on a monthly basis.

Qualifications
Most often members are required to be an eligible elector of the City of Orillia, but there are exceptions when a non-resident from the local area may also be appointed. Student representatives from the local area schools are also appointed to the Orillia Sunshine Youth Senate for one-year terms aligned with the school year from June 1st to May 31st each year.
Term
Appointments are made for a three-year term or, for the four-year term of Council. Members may be appointed to fill a vacancy mid-term when vacant seats occur.
Remuneration
Citizens who volunteer to serve on City boards and committees are paid an annual stipend as outlined in City of Orillia Remuneration By-law (Chapter 493 of the City of Orillia Municipal Code).
