Borland Street Reconstruction

Asphalt is complete and sod has been installed. The only remaining work is watering the sod.

Borland Street East and Borland Street West

• Topsoil and sod will be completed this week.
• Top lift asphalt and line painting are scheduled for July 10.

• Both sections will remain Closed to Local Traffic Only until top lift asphalt is completed. 

West Street North/Borland Street Intersection

• Traffic controls will be set up on July 8 in order to mill asphalt on the south half, then traffic controls will be flipped to mill the north half. Following this, traffic controls will be removed overnight.
• Traffic controls will be set up again on July 10 in order to complete top lift asphalt on the south half, then traffic controls will be flipped to pave the north half. Following this, traffic controls will be removed.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

• Base asphalt, retaining wall and sidewalk are complete.
• Driveways will be complete this week 
• Grading, topsoil and sod is scheduled to be completed next week 
• Toplift asphalt is scheduled for July 9
• This section is Closed to Local Traffic Only, with no Access Restrictions 

Borland St West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

• Base asphalt and sidewalk are completed
• Driveways will be complete this week and if needed next Tuesday
• Grading, topsoil and sod is scheduled to be completed next week
• Toplift asphalt is scheduled for July 9
• This section is Closed to Local Traffic Only, with no Access Restrictions 

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• The retaining wall at the proposed sidewalk will be completed this week.

• Preparation for the sidewalk started this week and the sidewalk will be poured next week.

• Restoration (driveways, topsoil and sod) will continue next week.
• This section is Closed to Local Traffic with no Access Restrictions. 

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Curbs will be completed this week.
• Road base is ongoing and base asphalt is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25.

• Restoration (driveways, topsoil and sod) is ongoing.

• Lawrence Avenue is currently closed at Borland Street and will remain closed until top lift asphalt is complete. Borland Street West and Dalton Crescent are only accessible from West Street North.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• Installation of the retaining wall began and will continue next week.

• Continuing general cleanup/restoration of this work zone. 
• There are currently no access restrictions to this area. 

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• All watermain has been installed and tested. Samples were collected on Thursday, June 13, and pending pass results, the proposed watermain and new water services will be connected to the existing services next week.

• Road base construction is ongoing.

• Curbs will be poured next Tuesday/Wednesday and base asphalt is anticipated to be completed by June 26, 2024.
• Lawrence Avenue is currently closed and will remain closed until asphalt is complete. Borland Street West and Dalton Crescent are only accessible from West Street North.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• Installation of the retaining wall to commence. 

• Continuing general cleanup/restoration of this work zone. 
• Borland Street East will remain accessible from both ends.

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Sewer and watermain are anticipated to be completed by Friday, June 7.

• Lawrence Avenue was closed on Thursday, June 6, and will remain closed until the end of next week. Borland Street West and Dalton Crescent are only accessible from West Street North until the end of next week.

Work to be completed next week:

• The watermain will be flushed, tested, disinfected, and water samples will be collected.

• Road base construction will continue.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• The new watermain was connected to the existing watermain at both ends and existing services on May 29, 2024.
• Continuing general cleanup/restoration of this work zone. 
• Borland Street East will remain accessible from both ends.

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Sanitary sewer has been installed through the western side of Dalton Crescent. Watermain and road base will be installed just short of the eastern side of Dalton Crescent.

• By the end of day on Friday, May 31, 2024, Dalton Crescent North and South will only be accessible from the western side of Dalton Crescent via West Street North.

Work to be completed next week:

• Sanitary sewer, watermain and road base is scheduled to be constructed up to Lawrence Avenue.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• The watermain has been flushed and disinfected. Pending past results of water samples, the new watermain will be connected to the existing watermain at both ends and the existing services by Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

• Continuing general cleanup/restoration of this work zone. 

• Borland Street East will remain accessible from both ends.

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Sanitary sewer, watermain and road base will be completed through the eastern side of Dalton Crescent by Friday, May 24, 2024.

• By the end of day on Friday, May 24, 2024, both sides of Dalton Crescent will be open and Borland Street West will be closed at 32/36 Borland Street West. Houses west of this point are accessible from Lawrence Avenue and houses east of this point will be accessible from West Street North.

Work to be completed next week:

• Sanitary sewer, watermain and road base will be constructed through the intersection of the western side of Dalton Crescent. Note: During this work, the western side of Dalton Crescent will be closed and Dalton Crescent North and South will only be accessible from West Street North via the eastern side of the Dalton Crescent intersection.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• Curb and base asphalt are complete.

• The watermain is ready and is scheduled to be commissioned next week.

• Borland Street East is currently, and will remain, accessible from both ends.

Work to be completed next week:

• Commissioning of the new watermain and, pending past samples, connecting to the existing watermain. 

• Continuing general cleanup/restoration of this work zone.

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Sanitary sewer and road base is anticipated to be completed from West Street North up to the eastern side of Dalton Crescent by Friday, May 17, 2024.
• By end of day on Friday, May 17, 2024, all driveways between West Street North and the eastern side of Dalton Crescent will only be accessible from West Street North. The remainder of driveways past this point will be accessible from Lawrence Avenue.

Work to be completed next week:

• Watermain installation from West Street North to 20m west of the eastern side of Dalton Crescent.

• Sanitary sewer and road base will be constructed through the intersection of Borland Street West and the eastern side of Dalton Crescent. Note: During this work, the eastern side of Dalton Crescent will be closed and Dalton Crescent North and South will only be accessible via the eastern side of the Dalton Crescent intersection.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North

Work completed this week:

• Road base, watermain, sanitary and storm sewer in this area.
• Curb is expected to be completed Friday, May 10, 2024.
• Borland Street East is currently accessible from both ends.

Work to be completed next week:

• New watermain will be commissioned/tested, and pending past results, will be connected to the existing watermain at both ends and to existing services.
• Base asphalt is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
• General cleanup of this work zone.
• On Monday, May 13, 2024, and Tuesday, May 14, 2024, this work area will only be accessible from Peter Street North.

Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue

Work completed this week:

• Temporary water supply has been successfully commissioned and connected to the existing watermain and existing services.

Work to be completed next week:

• Connection to the existing sanitary sewer at the intersection of West Street North is scheduled to be completed on Monday, May 13, 2024, and Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Note: During the connection, West Street North will be reduced to one lane and traffic will be controlled with temporary traffic lights as per the Traffic Control Plan. Borland Street West and Dalton Crescent will only be accessible from Lawrence Avenue. A Notice to Residents advising of the lane restrictions was hand delivered to residents by JBE on Friday, May 10, 2024.

• Road base, watermain and sanitary sewer installation will start in this area on Monday, May 13, 2024. 

Borland Street East

Road base, watermain, sanitary and storm sewer is anticipated to be completed past 9 Borland Street East by Friday, May 3, 2024. The installation of servicing and road granulars, including curbs, is estimated to be completed next week. 

Please note that driveways on Borland Street East from West Street North to Peter Street North and driveways on Borland Street West from West Street North to Dalton Crescent South are accessible from the West Street North and Peter Street North intersections.

Borland Street West

Surface removals have been completed. Temporary water supply has been installed, tested, and samples have been sent to the lab for testing. Pending these test results, temporary connections to homes are expected to be completed next week.

Borland Street East from Peter Street North to West Street North and Borland Street West from West Street North to Lawrence Avenue were closed on Monday, April 25, 2024. Residents and emergency services will have access to Borland Street East via West Street North. Please follow the detour signage (D-1, D-2, D-3, D-4).

All surface removals (asphalt driveway, sidewalk, curbs, etc.) are estimated to be completed by Friday, April 26, 2024. Installation of a temporary water supply on Borland Street West is estimated to be ready for testing/commissioning by April 30, 2024. Pipe installation and roadwork up to Granular B is currently estimated to be completed by Friday, May 2, 2024.
