Orillia's Cultural Roundtable is an ongoing working group that provides strategic vision and mobilizes action by linking leaders from across all sectors. It was created to bolster cultural development by facilitating communication and supporting collaboration among community, business, and municipal interests. The goals include:
- Building a shared vision and understanding of culture in Orillia
- Acting as a catalyst for leadership and innovation
- Serving as a sounding board for ideas and actions (including issues being brought forward to Council)
The Cultural Roundtable will:
- Foster inclusive engagement - Engaging citizens in ways that cross boundaries and build shared understanding and empathy
- Value the grassroots - Celebrating the energy and capacity of the community at the grassroots level
- Develop purpose - Balancing a commitment to open-ended dialogue that generates new understandings with advancing concrete plans and actions
- Develop "hard" and "soft" skills - Strengthening practical skills and knowledge as well as those devoted to conversation and imagining new forms of community
