The Office of the Mayor provides a number of official services to its citizens. The following services are available:
Citizen of the Year
Nominations for the 2022 Citizen of the Year Award have now closed.
The 2022 Citizen of the Year panel includes Mayor Don McIsaac (non-voting member), and former winners Marci Csumrik Michael Gordon, Fred Larsen, and Stan Mathewson, as well as Pure Country 106 Morning Host Carey Moran, OrilliaMatters editor Dave Dawson, and Mario Tulipano with the Orillia Rotary Club.
The award shall be presented by Council at the April 3, 2023 Council Meeting. This year’s finalists included Ruth Watt, Cam Davidson, Madeleine Fournier, Ruth Fountain, Stephen Davids, and Sylvia Smith
The Citizen of the Year award is generously donated by Joe Watt Trophy and Engraving.
Official Greetings and Congratulatory Messages
The Mayor will send official greetings to mark significant birthdays, special wedding anniversaries, and other significant special milestones. Congratulatory messages from the Mayor are also available to various organizations marking milestones. Please provide at least two weeks notice for any requests.

Business Grand Openings and Celebrations
The Mayor appreciates the opportunity to attend official business openings, ribbon cuttings, and business celebrations to present a Certificate and to bring well wishes on behalf of the City.
Proclamations
The Mayor is pleased to issue proclamations for special occasions or special events for non-profit community groups and organizations.
To request a proclamation, please complete the online proclamation request form. If you have any questions, send an email to mayor@orillia.ca. Please provide at least two weeks notice for any requests.
Flag Raising
The Mayor's office administers flag raisings for the Orillia Opera House and the Orillia City Centre.
Tag Days
The City of Orillia administers the approval process for organizations/service clubs to solicit donations outside of area businesses (who are amenable to tagging). This is referred to as Tag Days. Tag days are assigned on a first come, first serve basis for the current year. Read the Tag Days Policy to learn more.
City of Orillia Pins
Municipal lapel pins with the official City of Orillia crest are available in limited quantities. The Mayor's Office welcomes requests for pins to distribute to various groups, organizations, and special events.
Constituent Meetings
The Mayor welcomes small or group meetings with local citizens who have a specific issue or concern about City of Orillia matters.
