Mandate
The Property Standards Committee is mandated by the Building Code Act and governed by Chapter 866 of the City of Orillia Municipal Code.
Purpose
The Property Standards Committee has all general and special powers, as set out in section 15(3) of the Building Code Act, S.O. 1992, c.23. This includes the power to hear appeals from orders issued by the Property Standards Officer. On an appeal, the Committee has all the powers and functions of the officer who made the order and the Committee may do any of the following things if, in the Committee's opinion, doing so would maintain the general intent and purpose of the Property Standards By-law and of the Official Plan or policy statement:
- Confirm, modify or rescind the order to demolish or repair
- Extend the time for complying with the order (2002, c. 9, s. 24).
Committee Members
The Property Standards Committee consists of those members who sit on the Committee of Adjustment.
Regular Meeting Date
The Committee meets only when an appeal is received.
