Project Summary

Location:

Part 1 - Highway 12 Ramp Widening

Part 2 - Highway 12 Widening from West Ridge Boulevard to Highway 11

Part 3 - West Ridge Boulevard Widening from Highway 12 to Hunter Valley Road

Budget: 

Part 1 - $614,000 

Part 2 - $4,874,000

Part 3 - $2,700,000

Timeline: 

2019 - Widening of West Ridge Boulevard (Phase 3) from Highway 12 to Hunter Valley Road commenced in July, 2019 and is anticipated to be complete in the fall.

Current Status: 

The majority of the West Ridge Boulevard Widening from Bass Lake Sideroad East to Hunter Valley Road has been completed.

Completed works include:

  • Removal of open ditch(s) and installation of urban stormwater sewer infrastructure;
  • Completion of the road base, including concrete curbs;
  • Installation of base asphalt on the northbound and southbound lanes;
  • Installation traffic signal bases complete with pertinent works.

Georgian Paving Ltd. is scheduled to continue and complete the following items throughout December:

  • Installation of traffic signals, including the removal of existing traffic signals and associated concrete bases;
  • Installation of regulatory traffic signs.

The following items will be completed as weather permits in spring 2020:

  • Placement of nursery sod;
  • Placement of top lift of asphalt for all five lanes, complete with pavement markings.

 Project Description

Part 1 (Complete):

  • The addition of a 2nd right turn lane to the southbound Hwy 11 off-ramp where it meets Hwy 12 (at the first signalized intersection west of Highway 11).

Part 2 (Substantially Complete):

  • The addition of 2nd left turn lanes on Hwy 12 at the West Ridge Boulevard and at the Monarch Drive intersections;
  • The addition of a 2nd right turn lane on Monarch Drive at Hwy 12;
  • Multi-use trails on the north and south side of Hwy 12 from West Ridge Boulevard towards Hwy 11.

Part 3 involves:

  • Milling of the existing asphalt;
  • Widening each side of West Ridge Boulevard to create a 5-lane urban cross section;
  • Relocation/reinstallation of traffic signals at two (2) intersections;
  • Installation of asphalt multi-use trail;
  • Installation of storm sewers with new catch basins.
