Contact(s)
We all pay the price when people litter or illegally dump. The City of Orillia has a by-law prohibiting littering. The fine for littering is $300. Contact the City By-law Office at 705-325-2313 if you observe an area of litter concern or witness an illegal dumping in action.
Community Clean-ups
If you want to help keep your community clean, there is the following option:
- Individual Cleanups - For individual clean-ups please note the following:
- Clean-up is for City property only (along City boulevards/ditches)
- Clean-up events should occur the day before the regular waste collection day to ensure that the collected material does not sit out for long (we can provide you with the garbage pick-up day if you do not have this information)
- Special green garbage tags will be provided to ensure the waste is collected (any unused tags are to be returned to our office)
- Clean containers are to be sorted & placed in a clear plastic bag for recycling & do not require a garbage tag
- Garbage bags are not provided by the City
As you are interested in doing your own clean-up, we will require some details from you:
- The streets/areas you are planning to clean-up
- The date(s) you plan to do the clean-up
- How many garbage tags you expect to use
To obtain your special garbage tags, please complete and submit the Special Garbage Tag Application Form to enviroservices@orillia.ca.
We encourage you to recycle during these community cleanup events. Find out how with our Recycling Guide for Community Clean-Ups. Please call 705-325-3224 for more information.
The City welcomes the work of local volunteers whose dedication helps to reduce the litterbug habit.
