The City of Orillia is determined to keep as many items as possible out of its Waste Diversion Site (landfill). For this reason, the City decided to gradually introduce a Garbage Tag Program, while increasing its efforts to help people recycle. In addition to an extensive Blue Box Recycling Program (called recycling box in Orillia), the City also has a Green Bin program for compostable materials.
Garbage (and diaper) collection is now every other week. Recycling and green bin/yard waste are still collected weekly. Collection is delayed by one day after a statutory holiday as noted in the Collection Calendar.
Pingstreet
Do you want to know when your garbage collection day is? Pingstreet is a free mobile app for mobile devices and provides Orillia residents with real-time access to a calendar showing when your garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste curbside pick-up will occur. It even accounts for delayed collection during weeks with statutory holidays. The optional "remind me" feature will ensure you never miss another garbage day!
