Garbage, Recycling & Green Bin Pickup

The City of Orillia is determined to keep as many items as possible out of its Waste Diversion Site (landfill). For this reason, the City decided to gradually introduce a Garbage Tag Program, while increasing its efforts to help people recycle. In addition to an extensive Blue Box Recycling Program (called recycling box in Orillia), the City also has a Green Bin program for compostable materials.

Garbage (and diaper) collection is now every other week. Recycling and green bin/yard waste are still collected weekly. Collection is delayed by one day after a statutory holiday as noted in the below Collection Calendar.

Do you want to know when your garbage collection day is?  Pingstreet is a free mobile app for mobile devices and provides Orillia residents with real-time access to a calendar showing when your garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste curbside pick-up will occur. It even accounts for delayed collection during weeks with statutory holidays. The optional "remind me" feature will ensure you never miss another garbage day!
