Waste Diversion Site
NOTICE: COVID-19
As the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve and information changes rapidly, the City continues to adapt and proactively respond accordingly. Please note the following update.
Regular curbside garbage collection requirements will resume beginning July 6, 2020. This means that starting July 6, 2020, all garbage placed out at the curb must have a City of Orillia garbage tag on it or it will not be collected.
Beginning July 6, 2020, the Waste Diversion Site, 100 Kitchener St., public hours will be extended to Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Reuse Depot for paint and household items will also reopen to the public. The following restrictions are in place at the Waste Diversion Site:
- Debit or credit only. No cash.
- Please try to limit bringing in items that can be set at the curb like recycling and small loads of tagged garbage.
- While in the lineup of vehicles to get into the landfill, all residents must stay in their vehicles.
- All visitors to the site must maintain a physical distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from anyone else at all times.
- Visitors must follow safety precautions and staff instructions. Above all else, please act safely, responsibly and respectfully.
If you have any questions, please call the Waste Diversion Site at 705-325-3522. Residents are asked to maintain a 2 metre physical distance from the collection crew for everyone’s safety. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Orillia's Waste Diversion Site is located at 100 Kitchener St., Orillia. While it accepts a wide range of waste, its primary function is to divert recyclable materials from the landfill.

Landfill Charge Accounts
Commercial users may be eligible to obtain a charge account. Upon credit application approval, a charge account will be set up whereby the user will be billed monthly rather than having to pay onsite per visit.
To apply for a Waste Diversion Site charge account, please complete the Waste Diversion Site Credit Application for submission to the Environmental Services and Operations Department. Please note: process time may take up to one week upon receipt of a full and complete application.
