Hey I'm Chris, I graduated from the Child and Youth worker program with honours in 2010, but I have been working with youth since 2007. I became a youth worker because I have always wanted to make a difference in someone's life. We have all lived different lives, some better than others and I just want to be there for youth who might need that extra hand. I have worked with youth from ages 3-18 and in all types of settings. I have worked everywhere from day camps to group homes as well as one on one and now I am at the Orillia Youth Centre and I have been working here for about 5 years. What I love about the Orillia Youth Centre is that it is a safe place for youth to go and just hang out. We offer so many activities, programs and outings there is something for everyone at the OYC! |

For the past 13 years, I have had the pleasure of working with Orillia's youth population in several capacities. I started working at the OYC in 2003 as a volunteer, assisting with programs, events and promoting mentorship to youth. Not much has changed 13 years later, with my focus still on providing youth with new and unique opportunities. In the past 5 years I have worked as the OYC's Senior Youth Worker, and have had the pleasure of working alongside dedicated youth workers who share the same passions that I do. I enjoy anything that is outdoors and getting youth up and active through sports, therapeutic recreational activities or unique and rewarding programs. I am an avid skier in the winter months, and enjoy introducing youth to different outdoor opportunities in both winter and summer months. Come by and meet all of the wonderful staff at the OYC we always look forward to meeting new youth and presenting our awesome daily programs to enjoy. |

Hey everyone, I went to Georgian College and graduated from both Recreation and Leisure Services and Therapeutic Recreation. I first began my experience with the OYC as a volunteer, introducing various adapted activities. The youth enthusiasm and inclusiveness was and still is contagious, that I feel privileged to be a member of the team here.

Hi everyone, I'm Shelby and I am a part time staff member at the OYC. I moved to Orillia 6 years ago to go to Georgian College here in Orillia, where I graduated from the Child and Youth Worker program as well as the Therapeutic Recreation Program. Some of my favourite activities to engage youth in include artwork creations, sports such as paddle boarding, kayaking, baseball and my all time favourite bowling! But what I love most about my job is working as a part of a very diverse, resourceful and warm-charted team, which strives to guide and assist youth in blooming into the intelligent and capable young men and ladies that they all are! |
