Property Taxes |
Property tax bills are issued twice annually, in January and June. The tax installment due dates are:
Payments for both tax and water bills are accepted at most financial institutions or download the Pre-Authorized Property Tax Payment Plan form to have your taxes automatically withdrawn from your bank account. Water Account |
For residential properties, water meters are read and billed every three months.
You can request to have your water bill automatically debited from your bank account by completing and submitting our Pre-Authorized Water Payment Form. Contact: Financial Services For more information visit the Water and Sewer Information page. |
Obtaining Curbside Collection Materials |
Waste collection takes place every two weeks while recycling and compost collection takes place weekly. Collection Materials New residents can receive up to two recycling boxes, one green bin, and one kitchen container at no charge from the Waste Diversion Site, located at 100 Kitchener St. Photo ID is required. View Waste Collection Information View the Sorting Guide and Waste Collection Calendar Download the Recycle Coach app on the App Store or Google Play Store to use the 'What Goes Where' tool and get a customized collection schedule with reminders. Garbage Tags All residential units receive 20 tags for the period of July 1 of one year to June 30 of the following year. Tags will be issued to purchasers of new homes (occupancy permit may be required). Pet Licensing |
All dog owners in Orillia must license their dog(s). Licenses are $75 and are lifelong. You must provide proof that your dog(s) has been inoculated with a non-expired anti-rabies vaccine when you purchase the license. There is no license required for cats.

Parking |
The cost for metered parking is $1.25 per hour (on-street) and $1 per hour (off-street). On street metered parking has a two-hour time limit. Pay and Display parking lots have a minimum 15-minute purchase time $0.25. When parking is needed for longer periods of time, residents are encouraged to park in the municipal lots which have five-hour or eight-hour time limits. Overnight Parking Restrictions Overnight parking is prohibited throughout the City between Nov. 15 and April 15 from midnight to 7 a.m. Contact: Legislative Services, By-law Enforcement For details on licensing and animal by-laws, visit the Parking page. |
Transit |
Orillia Transit provides bus service throughout the City of Orillia 7 days a week. There are six different routes, offering service to most areas of the city. All buses are accessible and there are various bus fare and pass options to suit your needs. Recreation Information |
If you want to get active, the City of Orillia is the place to be. The City's Recreation and Youth Services Division offers a full range of activities and recreational pursuits. In addition, the City offers many sports leagues, tournaments, clubs, and organizations, as well as unique services such as disc golf and rock climbing. Orillia has modern and accessible recreation facilities to meet the needs of everyone including the twin-pad arena at Rotary Place and the new impressive Orillia Recreation Centre that features an aquatics centre, 2 FIBA sized gymnasiums, walking/jogging track and fitness centre and multipurpose rooms. The City of Orillia has a state of the art library in the heart of downtown. Orillia Public Library membership is available at no charge to you if you live or own property in the City of Orillia. Orillia offers education opportunities for learners of all ages - from pre-school to post-secondary. Our education infrastructure includes schools run by the Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud.
