The City of Orillia does all it can to ensure that programs run smoothly, and that participants are respected as they pursue recreational activities. The following are some important points to remember.
Course Cancellation |
If the minimum amount of participants is not met on week prior to a program's start date, programs usually need to be cancelled. Register early to avoid cancellations. If a course is cancelled, you will be contacted and a full refund will be issued to your account. Facebook Instagram Twitter |
Course Availability |
To find out what courses are currently available, contact us during regular business hours or visit the S.U.N. Registration Site. |
Payments |
Full payment is required upon registration. Registrations must be done in person at the Orillia City Centre or online on the S.U.N. Registration Site so that you can agree to/sign the waiver. |
NSF Cheques |
There is a $36.00 administration fee for all NSF cheques and returned payments. |
Non-Resident Fee |
A non-resident fee of 25% will be added per person, per course. |
Age Limitations |
Check individual programs for age restrictions. Instructors are aware of the development needs of children and tailor specific classes to meet these needs. Allowing children that do not meet the requirements into programs could potentially cause distractions and lower the quality of the program for all participants. Exceptions could be made depending on the level of maturity and the parents’ discretion coupled with the nature of the program. Please note that supervisory ratios are also different, depending on the program. To ask about an age override, please contact Megan Kamphuis, Recreation Program Supervisor, at mkamphuis@orillia.ca or 705-325-4786. |
Registration Confirmation |
Registration is only confirmed when you receive a confirmation. Online, you will be able to print a confirmation receipt. In person, you will be given a copy of your receipt. You can request this be emailed instead. |
Waiting Lists |
You will have an option to be put on a waiting list if a program is full. On a few occasions we may have enough staff to open a new course, however usually you will receive a call about an opening only if others withdraw. |
Late Registration |
Typically, you can register until the last class of a course (if it still has openings); the full fee for the course applies. |
Withdrawing from a Program |
Refunds/credits will be issued up to seven days prior to the start of a program with an administrative fee of 10%. Visit the S.U.N. System to withdraw from a program seven days prior to the start. Medical refund requests must be accompanied by a doctor's certificate/note and the 10% administrative fee will be waived. It will only be processed up to the halfway point of any recreation/culture program. Absolutely no refunds will be given after the mid-point of a program. The refund will be pro-rated based on the number of classes left in the recreation/culture program at the time the request is received, regardless of the date the registrant stopped attending the recreation/culture program. |
Credits/Refunds |
If a program is cancelled, you will get a full refund placed on your account. You may request this be refunded back the way you paid. We do not save your credit card information automatically for security purposes so we will usually require that information from you to process the refund. If you paid by cash or debit you will need to come to the Orillia City Centre to obtain the refund. Please note that credits left on your account will expire 24 months after the date of the original credit entry if not obtained. |
