The Recycling Box program is one of many ways the City of Orillia is attempting to extend the life of its landfill site. Recycling materials must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your regular collection day.

Recycling at Apartments / Condos and Businesses |
Recycling is mandatory at apartments and condos in Orillia. Apartments and condos with six or more dwelling units can set out up to eight bundles of cardboard without a garbage tag. Bundles must be no larger than 75cm x 120cm x 25cm (30" x 48" x 10"). Businesses, institutions and other residential locations are limited to four bundles of cardboard without a garbage tag.
Smaller apartments and businesses can use the regular Recycling Box program. For larger apartments and businesses, the City provides 360-litre recycling carts. If you wish to use the recycling cart program, please call 705-325-2325. Please feel free to print the below poster to display at your recycling and composting container locations. Recycling Wheels Kits |
The City of Orillia now has available wheel kits with a pull cord that can be installed on your recycling box to allow you to roll it to the curb without having to lift it. The wheel kits are only $10 each and fit right into your existing recycling box. They can be purchased at the City's Waste Diversion Site located at 100 Kitchener Street. Please visit the Household Hazardous Waste Depot to pick up a set.

The following items are not accepted in the City's Recycling Box program:
Please do not include these items in your recycling box as some present a health and safety hazard for our recycling staff. Residents can bring batteries, propane cylinders and paint to the City's Household Hazardous Waste Depot located at the Waste Diversion Site (100 Kitchener Street) at no charge. Needles and syringes can also be brought here but they must be in a proper sharps container. Most major pharmacies accept used needles/syringes from their customers. |
