Music in the Park

Nestled in the heart of lake country, Orillia boasts a rich musical history that has earned it recognition as the musical hub of cottage country. From its ties to legendary singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot to its thriving live music scene, the city has long been a magnet for artists and performers. This legacy continues today with Orillia’s commitment to supporting live music and fostering a vibrant arts culture.

Each summer, the City of Orillia hosts a variety of free concerts at Couchiching Beach Park’s iconic Rotary Aqua Theatre. These performances offer residents and visitors the chance to enjoy live music by the lake, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. By celebrating local talent and creating accessible opportunities for the community to come together, Orillia continues to honour its proud history as a music hub while building a legacy for future generations to enjoy.

  • Should there be inclement weather in the forecast, the concerts will be CANCELLED.

Lakeside Live

Lakeside Live is a free summer concert series celebrating live music in one of Orillia’s most scenic waterfront settings at the Rotary Aqua Theatre.

Launched in 2025 as the inaugural 'Music & Makers' event, the series was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. Back by popular demand, it has been reimagined as 'Lakeside Live', reflecting its focus on live music, the waterfront, and community connection.

Designed to reduce barriers to arts and culture, Lakeside Live features a different musical genre each week, giving audiences the chance to explore new sounds and experiences they might not otherwise have access to.

Concerts run Saturday evenings in July and August from 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Applications closed on January 30, 2026. Stay tuned for the 2026 lineup.

Sunday Evening Band Concerts

For generations, Orillians have gathered at the Rotary Aqua Theatre on warm summer evenings to enjoy the sounds of local big bands. Free and open to the public, this beloved tradition brings families and friends together as the sun sets over Lake Couchiching and music fills the historic waterfront. The Sunday Evening Band Concert Series continues to weave together nostalgia, community, and musical appreciation, making the Rotary Aqua Theatre a symbol of shared experience and summer enjoyment for generations past, and those yet to come.

In 2026, the Sunday Evening Band Concert Series will be presented as a “historic tour of sound,” with each concert highlighting music from a specific era or genre. Applicants should consider this when applying, as selected performers will be expected to program music that aligns with the era or style associated with their selected date.

The series may also feature light historical elements connected to Orillia during each time period. Musicians, performers, and audience members alike are encouraged to dress in period costume to help bring each era to life.
